ERIE, Pa. – Senior Evan Augustine (South Park, PA/South Park) and sophomore Caitlin Caldwell (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Defensive Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 26 – Oct. 2.
Augustine, a defender on the men's soccer team, helped the Lions to another perfect 2-0 week. On Tuesday, Augustine's shutdown defense helped Behrend record a 3-1 victory against D'Youville. The Spartans were only able to record two shots on goal. On Sunday, Augustine continued his relentless defensive play against Mount Aloysius. The Lions recorded their eighth shutout of the season in the 2-0 win.
Caldwell, a defender for the women's soccer team, led the Lions to a pair of conference wins this week. She anchored the defense that held D'Youville to three shots and Mt. Aloysius to just six shots on Sunday. Caldwell also had an assist in each game.
