Bupp, Myers Earn AMCC Athlete of the Week Honors

ERIE, Pa. - Two Penn State Behrend athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week, announced Monday. Phil Myers (DuBois, PA/Dubois Central Catholic) of the baseball team was named Pitcher of the Week and Alexa Bupp (Warren, PA/Warren) earned Player of the Week for Softball.

Myers was stellar on the mound for Behrend in a 3-1 victory over #17 La Roche on Saturday. He kept the Redhawks off balance all afternoon, allowing seven scattered hits and just one earned run in his complete game nine inning performance. Myers moved to 6-1 on the season and now holds a 2.01 ERA, which is second in the conference. He is second in wins with six and fourth in strikeouts with 46.

Bupp led the Lions to six straight AMCC wins, closing out the year undefeated at home and clinching the regular-season title. She posted nine hits, 11 RBI, six runs scored, two doubles and two home runs for the week. In game two against Franciscan, Bupp ripped a grand slam and another home run to drive in a total of six runs. She tallied a .500 batting average and .944 slugging percentage.
