ERIE, Pa. – Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) and Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) were named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Division III Rookies of the Week.
In addition, Wortman earned Runner of the Week when he led the Lions to a first place finish at the Behrend Invitational. The freshman crossed the line at 26:27.2, giving him second out of 146 runners. Wortman started his freshman career on the right foot, tallying top 10 finishes in both races this year.
On the women's side, Carr paced the squad with a first place finish at home meet on Friday night. She completed the 5k course in 19:35.0. She has been Behrend's top runner in both races thus far.
Behrend will be back in action on September 30th at Geneseo. Race time is scheduled for 11 am.
