Four Selected AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Four Penn State Behrend student-athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week, announced on Monday.

In men's volleyball, Anthony Sprentz (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) averaged 10.17 assists in a perfect 2-0 week for the Lions. In a conference matchup against D'Youville, he recorded 34 assists and six digs in the sweep. Sprentz then posted a 34-assist, nine-dig, three-block, and one-ace performance against Hiram.

Matthew Kuchcinski (North East, PA/North East) earned Diver of the Week with his first-place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter boards with a scores of 223.70 and 247.20, respectively, against St. Vincent. On Friday night, he took second on both boards. 

In women's swimming, Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) took a first place finish in the 50 backstroke (29.62) and then led the Lions in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:19.45 for third overall against Malone. On Saturday against St. Vincent, she notched three wins for Behrend. Horn won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.16, the 100 freestyle (57.80) and swam a leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay. She was also on the second-place 200 medley relay team.

As for men's swimming, Jacob Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) won the 500 freestyle in 5:00.03 and finished second in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.80). Schmidt also swam on the second-place 200 freestyle relay to help the Lions defeat St. Vincent by four points.
