Soccer Teams Recognized for Academic Performances

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's and women's soccer teams were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches for their exceptional academic performances as team for the year of 2016-17.

A total of 856 soccer teams (303 men, 553 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. Of that total, Penn State Behrend was one of 215 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized for this achievement.

The men's soccer team, led by head coach Dan Perritano, recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.15. On the other hand, Patrick O'Driscoll and the women's team tallied a grade point average of 3.26.

Both teams will look to continue their achievements both on and off the soccer field in the 2017-18 academic year.
