Behrend Athletics Announces 2019 Hall of Fame Class

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend will induct seven individuals into the College's Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Nikki Frisbee '09, Brittany Hennessy '09, Nikki Kashauer '09, David Koerbel '09, Julie Koman '09, and Phil Stuczynski '09 are the individuals to be recognized. In addition, the eight 10-year anniversary AMCC Championship teams will be honored.

Nikki Frisbee '09

Frisbee was a dynamite front runner for the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team from 2005-08. She was a four-time All-AMCC selection, landing on the first team three out of the four years. In 2006, Frisbee was named to the Great Lakes All-Region team. The following year, she tallied 12 goals and four assists for 28 points to be named to the AMCC Player of the Year. Frisbee led the Lions to back-to-back AMCC Championships in 2006 and 2007. She graduated second in career goals (39), second in career assists (23) and second in career points (101). Frisbee is still in the Top 5 in each category.

Brittany Hennessy '09

Hennessy made history as a four-year starter and four-time All-AMCC choice for the Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team from 2005-08. She led the Lions to a 98-33 overall record and an unprecedented 35-1 mark in conference play during her career. Hennessy helped Behrend capture the AMCC Championship in 2005 and its first and only ECAC Championship in 2008. She earned AMCC and Team Newcomer of the Year, while being named ECAC Tournament MVP. Hennessy holds the record for career digs and is second in services aces.

Nikki Kashauer '09

Kaschauer was a four-time All-AMCC selection and two-time NCAA All-Tournament Team choice for the Penn State Behrend softball team from 2006-09. She was AMCC Player of the Year and Team MVP her sophomore season, while earning NFCA All-Region her senior year. Kaschauer led the AMCC in hits in back-to-back seasons and finished first in the record books with 220 for her career. She also holds the program record for games played, singles and at bats, and ranks second in RBIs and runs.

David Koerbel '09

David Koerbel is the most heralded pitcher in Penn State Behrend baseball history. The two-time AMCC Pitcher of the Year and two-time ABCA All-Region Selection, also earned ECAC Pitcher of the Year and Behrend Male Athlete of the Year his senior year. Koerbel graduated the career record holder in almost every pitching category including wins (27), innings pitched (238.2), strikeouts (251) and complete games (18). He also set the single-season record for strikeouts and most wins.   

Julie Koman '09

Koman was and still is the most successful pitcher in the history of the Penn State Behrend softball program. She led Behrend to three NCAA Tournament appearances in her four seasons and was a four-time All-AMCC player. Koman earned AMCC Newcomer and Player of the Year her freshman campaign and then was awarded Player of the Year once again along with Pitcher of the Year as a senior. She is the program leader in wins (59), appearances (95) and strikeouts (690). Koman was selected ESPN Academic All-District, an NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Region and the Behrend Female Athlete of the Year.

Phil Stuczynski '09

Phil Stuczynski was a catalyst for the Penn State Behrend men's track and field team from 2006-09. He was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the 4x100m relay that also broke the program record. Stuczynski ranked as high as 21st in the nation his senior year in the 100m. He was an ECAC qualifier in five events and was named All-ECAC in the 4x100m relay. Stucyznski was also a seven-time All-Conference selection, while being named an Academic All-American.
