ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore Alex Pol (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep), seniors Andrew Mastovich (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) and Matt Warnaka (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week, announced on Monday.
Pol was named AMCC Golfer of the Week, while Mastovich and Warnaka tallied Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for men's soccer.
Pol won his first collegiate tournament, carding a two-day total of 147 to capture the Oswego State Fall Invitational. He was tied for sixth with a 75 on day one and came back to fire a 72 to claim individual-medalist honors. Pol also helped the Lions finish in first place as a team at the invitational with a score of 608.
Mastovich tallied his first two goals of the season last week, netting the game winner in overtime against No. 14 Mt. Union and then adding an insurance goal in a 2-0 win over Geneva on Saturday. He teamed with Warnaka to post a 0.50 goals-against average for the week. The two spearheaded the defense that only allowed 11 shots total. Warnaka posted his fourth shut out of the season against the Golden Tornadoes, helping Behrend improve to 9-0 on the season.
