Olevnik, Goodsel Named to AMCC All-Academic Team

ERIE, Pa. – Seniors Lauren Olevnik (Waverly Township, PA/Abington Heights) and JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) have been named to the 2021 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Academic Team.

Olevnik and Goodsel were chosen among 18 student-athletes representing the AMCC after a successful four years in the classroom, in the community and in their respective sport.

Olevnik, a senior outfielder on the Behrend softball team, is a two-time AMCC All-Academic selection and a NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete in 2019. She recently earned her first All-AMCC honors on the first team for registering 29 hits and driving in 17 runs this season. Olevnik was a biology science major with a minor in health professions/psychological and graduated in May 2021 with a 3.94 grade-point average. She was in the Schreyer Honors College and Behrend Honors Program, while being a member of the Lambda Sigma Honors Society and Chi Alpha Sigma Honors Society. Olevnik was also a Presidential Scholarship recipient in 2019. She was the executive Vice President of Lion Ambassadors and participated in the Drumline.

Goodsel, a senior outside hitter on the Behrend men's volleyball team, is a four-time AMCC All-Academic selection. He was named to the All-AMCC second team in 2020 and served as team captain this season. Goodsel missed the majority of matches this year due to injury. He was a member of the 2018 AMCC Championship team and is a three-year starter. Goodsel will graduate in August 2021 with majors in plastics engineering technology, interdisciplinary business with engineering studies and finance (3.93 GPA). He was in the Schreyers Honors College and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honors Society. Goodsell was an AMCC Peak Performer all four years and was recently named the 2020-21 Penn State Behrend Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for men's volleyball and will serve as the President in 2021-22 during graduate school. Goodsel is also a member of the National Organization for Business and Engineering.
