ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend will induct 12 individuals into the College's Athletics Hall of Fame on October 16, 2021. Elliot Blackstone '11, Dustin Dubensky '10, Josh Fyffe '10, Jon Gray '10, Jenna Fatica '11, Justin Kovac '11, Amy Oldach '11, Chris Saltzman '11, Mike Stark '11, Jerry Tortella '11, Dustin Walker '10 and Eston Winn '11 are the individuals to be recognized. In addition, the four 10-year anniversary AMCC Championship teams will be honored. This will be the second Hall of Fame Ceremony in 2021 due to the pandemic. The Class of 2020 will be inducted on September 11, 2021.
Elliot Blackstone '11 (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland)
Blackstone is the first and only four-time AMCC Men's Tennis Player of the Year in conference history in any AMCC sport. He led the Behrend Lions from 2008-2011, helping secure three AMCC Championships. Blackstone was also four-time AMCC Champion at No. 1 singles and named to the All-AMCC first team four consecutive seasons. He shared the Player of the Year accolades as a freshman and was tabbed AMCC Newcomer of the Year. During his four-year career with the Lions, Blackstone went undefeated in AMCC singles play and only lost one doubles match in conference competition.
Dustin Dubensky '10 (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney)
Dubensky was instrumental in the three AMCC Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances for Behrend baseball team from 2007-10. The three-time All-AMCC selection earned All-Region, Scholar All-American honors and the Leadership/Scholarship Award his senior year. In his final season, Dubensky set the record for most RBIs in a season with 68 and registered the 64 hits. He smacked 55 doubles over his four-year career to rank him second all-time in program history. Dubensky also ranks fifth in career RBIs with 155 and is 10th in career hits with 185.
Josh Fyffe '10 (Pittsburgh, PA/Sharpsville)
Fyffe is a name that decorates the Penn State Behrend baseball record book. He set the career hits, batting average, games played, at-bats and assists record while sitting second in runs, doubles, triples, home runs and RBIs. Fyffe set records from 2007-10 but he also garnered many accolades. He was a four-time All-Conference choice, two-time AMCC Player of the Year, three-time All-Region, two-time All-American, 2009 ECAC South Region Player of the Year and 2010 Behrend Male Athlete of the Year. Fyffe also set single-season records with 87 hits and 68 runs his senior year
Jon Gray '10 (State College, PA/State College)
Gray was a two-time All-AMCC selection for the Behrend baseball team from 2007-10. He helped the Lions capture three straight AMCC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. His junior year, Gray tallied 67 hits, good enough for fifth all-time in a season. He also earned the team's Golden Glove Award, First Team All-Conference and a spot on the ABCA-Rawlings All-Region Third Team. Gray currently still ranks fifth in career runs (164) and career hits (213).
Jenna Fatica '11 (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy)
Fatica was an immediate impact runner for the Behrend Lions from 2008-2011. In cross country, she was an All-AMCC selection three straight seasons while earning a spot competing on the team's NCAA Regional squad all three years. In track & field, she was a record-breaking machine with eight new school records. Fatica still holds the 4x800m record set in 2011. She garnered All-ECAC honors and qualified for the ECAC Championships, while being named the Mason Dixon Champion and All-Conference in the 800m. Fatica was named the 2011 Behrend Female Athlete of the Year and earned the Scholarship/Leadership Award.
Justin Kovac '11 (Venetia, PA/Peters Township)
Kovac was a true leader on and off the court for the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team from 2006-11. He began his career by starting every game his freshman year and earning AMCC Newcomer of the Year to leading the country in assist-to-turnover ratio by his junior season. In 2009-10, Kovac was an All-AMCC second-team selection and was named the Behrend Scholar Athlete of the Year. As a senior captain, he led the team with 110 assists and ranked third in scoring with 8.3 ppg. Kovac was a four-time Academic All-Conference honoree and ranks third all-time in career assists with 425.
Amy (Oldach) Weir '11 (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy)
Oldach was the first-ever guard in Penn State Behrend women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points. She was a two-way player for the Lions, finishing her career with 1,111 points and being a two-time AMCC Defensive Player of the Year. Oldach was a two-time All-AMCC selection, earning Second Team honors her junior year and landing on the First Team as a senior. In her final season, she averaged 16.1 points per game, broke the school record for career steals and was ranked eighth in the nation with 105 steals. Oldach earned Academic All-AMCC three times and was named the Behrend Female Athlete of the Year.
Chris Saltzman '11 (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh Central Catholic)
Saltzman was a prolific player for the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team from 2007-2011. He helped the Lions to an AMCC Championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Saltzman led the team in points and rebounds per game his junior year, earning First Team All-Conference and earning ECAC South Tournament Most Valuable Player. In 2010-11, the senior co-captain averaged 17.1 points and shot 52.4 percent from the floor to be named the AMCC Co-Player of the Year, ECAC and NABC All-Star, All-District, All-Region and First Team All-AMCC. Saltzman ended his career with the coveted Behrend Athlete of the Year Award.
Mike Stark '11 (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland)
Stark is one of the best all-around track and field athletes in Behrend program history. He competed in hurdles, high jump, decathlon and the pole vault from 2007-11. His senior year, Stark was the track & field indoor and outdoor Most Valuable Player. He finished the year nationally ranked in the Top 30 in the pole vault and in the 110m hurdles, while earning All-ECAC honors in both indoor and outdoor. Stark was also an USTFFCCCA All-Academic choice in 2011. He graduated from Behrend with two indoor records and one outdoor record for the Lions.
Jerry Tortella '11 (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson)
Tortella broke two goal-scoring records and was a three-time All-AMCC choice for the Behrend men's soccer team from 2006-10. As a sophomore, he started all 22 games and broke the single-season scoring mark with 17 goals for a career-high 36 points. Sidelined due to injury the following year, Tortella posted six goals and five assists his junior season to earn Second Team All-AMCC honors. As a senior captain, he tallied his third All-AMCC accolades and broke the program record for career goals with a total of 33. Tortella led the Lions to an AMCC and ECAC Championship.
Dustin Walker '10 (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area)
Walker was a three-year starter and three-time All-AMCC first-team choice for the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team from 2006-09. He holds the program record for career shutouts (30) and games played in goal (69). Walker is also ranked second with a career 0.928 goals-against average (GAA) and is sixth with 272 career saves. He helped the Lions capture the AMCC Championship in 2007 and set the program's single-season record for goals allowed with seven. Walker capped his career with being named the Behrend Athlete of the Year.
Eston Winn '11 (Erie, PA/McDowell)
Winn was the biggest driving force behind the respect around the country for Penn State Behrend pole vault. He won three consecutive Mason-Dixon Championships and was an All-Conference honoree in the pole vault. His junior year, Winn broke the Salisbury facility record and hit an NCAA provisional mark with his best jump of the season (15' 7.25"). He held a Top 20 spot in both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor rankings. To this day, Winn's best outdoor mark ranks him third all-time.
