Three From Behrend Named CSAC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) tabbed three from the Penn state Behrend men's and women's track and field team as Athletes of the Week, announced on Monday.

Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was named women's Track Athlete of the Week after compiling five top-5 finishes on Saturday at Thiel. Laffan claimed the top time in three events within the conference and holds the second-best mark in the 800m. Laffan took gold in the 400m at Thiel, crossing in a CSAC-best 1:00.20. Her mark of 13.41 in the 100m this past weekend made for her third event in which she would top the conference, with her time in the 200m (27.13) still holding as the top mark from April 8.

Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) earned men's Track athlete of the Week by bringing in gold in two events. Klein placed first in the 800m and as one leg of the 4x400m relay. Klein registered a time of 1:58.40 in the 800m and the 4x400m, he helped his team clinch a top finish with a time of 3:32.93.

Matt Laslavic (Zelienople, PA/Seneca Valley) was selected as men's Field Athlete of the Week. Laslavic hit an AARTFC-qualifying mark while placing second in the javelin throw this past weekend and earned silver in the triple jump, making for the top mark in the CSAC. Laslavic registered a toss of 52.76m in the javelin throw to take second place, the best in the conference to date.
