ERIE, Pa. – The 14th annual Trash to Treasure sale was held on Saturday on the campus of Penn State Behrend in the Junker Center.
The Trash to Treasure sale is a rummage sale that benefits the United Way of Erie County. The sale features gently used items like furniture, electronics, clothing, and housewares. It gives students and community members an opportunity to recycle reusable items that they no longer need.
The initiative, run through Penn State Behrend Athletics, aims to keep useful items out of the waste stream while raising money for United Way of Erie County, a local community organization. Countless volunteers help collect donated items and sort them with the proceeds supporting the local mission to end poverty.
This year, the sale raised approximately $5,550 for United Way of Erie County.
