2001-02 Women's Cross Country

On October 27, 2001, the Penn State Behrend Women’s cross country team made school history.  They won the programs first AMCC Championship and set a tone for future teams to come.  The Lions dominated the 5K AMCC Championship race from start to finish.  Behrend placed seven runners in the top 10.  Their team score of 16 was 39 points better than second place.

With no seniors on the squad, the young team was comprised of two juniors, four sophomores, and five freshmen.  Under the leadership of head coach Dave Cooper, the team transformed from a group of inexperienced runners, to conference champions.
