2006 Women's Soccer

The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team put together a tremendous 2006 season. The Lions recorded 11 shutouts while posting a 14-6-1 overall record, finishing the regular season in second place and going 8-1 in conference play. Behrend went on to capture an AMCC title and landed a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.

Earning the No. 2 seed in the AMCC Tournament, Behrend took on third-seed La Roche in the semi-finals, knocking them off by a score of 3-1 and advancing to the championship game. The Lions then battled regular-season champions and No. 1 Frostburg St. for the AMCC crown, defeating the Bobcats 2-1 for the program’s fifth AMCC title.

The Lions landed six on the All-Conference honors. Midfielder Nikki Frisbee and defenseman Emily Rogan made first team. Forward Beth Manganaro and goalkeeper Kayla Frost earned second-team honors while forward Whitney Putnam and midfielder Kara Struski were selected to the third team.
