Athletic Training Information For Visiting Teams

Welcome to Penn State Behrend!  Let us take this opportunity to assure you we will do everything possible to make your trip as safe and enjoyable as possible.  Listed below is a summary of the services available to you from the Penn State Behrend Athletic Training Staff, during your visit.

  1. Penn State Behrend has two Athletic Training Facilities located on campus.  For all indoor events (Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming, Water Polo and Soccer), the Athletic Training Room can be found in the lower level of the Junker Center.  For all outdoor activities (tennis, baseball, softball, cross country and track & field), visiting teams should report to the Erie Hall Training room.  There are visiting team locker rooms, for all outdoor events, located at Erie Hall.  Upon your arrival at Erie Hall, you will be greeted by a member of the Athletic Department Staff and shown to your locker room(s).  If you are in need of Athletic Training Services, please call us with a time for your arrival so that we can provide adequate services to your team(s).
  2. Therapeutic modalities are available to Certified Athletic Trainers or athletic training students with a written prescription from a physician or ATC.  The Athletic Training Room will be open a minimum of 1 hour prior to each scheduled contest.  If you will be arriving earlier, or have any special needs, please contact us in advance so we can meet your needs.
  3. If your team is traveling without an ATC or athletic training student, we will be happy to assist your athletes.  Please provide taping supplies. Taping services and additional athletic training services can be arranged ahead of time, upon request. We require that you submit an “Athletic Training Request for Treatment Letter” to verify the services your athletes need, (including any tapings), as well as to verify that they are medically cleared for participation. Without these requests we cannot provide treatments to your student-athletes.
  4. A Certified Athletic Trainer will be present at, or on call (within 2 minutes), at all scheduled contests.
  5. Water and Ice bags will be provided on your sidelines / bench.
  6. Emergency equipment will be available, should the need arise.
  7. Access is available to 3 local hospitals, all within 10-15 minutes of campus.  They are listed below.
  8. Emergency medical response services will be provided by Brookside Fire Department, with a response time of less than 5 minutes.
  9. Attached is a map showing the location of both Erie Hall and the Junker Center in relation to the main campus entrance and all of our athletic facilities.  Please use this as a reference once you enter campus.
