Three Named CSAC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s track teams combined to have three athletes named Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Athletes of the Week for their performances at the John Homon Invite hosted by Mt. Union on Sunday, announced on Tuesday.

On the men’s side, Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was named the Track Athlete of the Week and Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was selected as the Field Athlete of the Week. McWilliams won the 5000 meter run (14:51.93). His time was the best in the CSAC, qualified him for ECACs and broke the school record by 34 seconds. Gardner placed third in the high jump (6’ 4.75”) which featured top Division II and III competitors. He is ranked first in the CSAC in this event.

Faith Leri (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley) was announced as the women’s Field Athlete of the Week. She placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 4’ 11”. This mark set a season-best to continue to lead the conference by 0.75".
