Lions Compete at AMCC Round Robin

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's bowling team traveled to Altoona, PA to compete in an AMCC (Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference) Round Robin contest hosted by Penn State Altoona. On day one, the Lions faced off against Mount Aloysius, Medaille, Penn State Altoona, and Pitt-Bradford in a Baker Match style.

The Lions went 0-4 on the first day of the Round Robin tournament, knocking down a total of 2092 pins.

Behrend matched-up with Mount Aloysius in the first game of the day. Behrend was defeated each of the five games, knocking down 526 pins in total and averaging 105.2 fallen pins in the series. Game three was the Lions best game, bowling a 125, however, the Mounties matched it by bowling a 147.

Medaille was next for the Lions. Despite improving total pin fall series average, Behrend fell in five straight games against the Mavericks. The Lions showed improvements in each of the first three games, but it was not enough to fend off Medaille.

The Lions faced off against Penn State Altoona in match three of the day. Fatigue started to kick in causing Behrend to roll its lowest score of the day. The Lions were able to knock down a total of 446 pins, averaging 89.2 in the series, compared to Altoona's 538 pins that averaged 107.6 in the series.

In the last game of the day, Behrend closed out by rolling its best match of the day. The Lions bowled a season-high 148 in the second game of the series to win its first game of the day. Pitt-Bradford retaliated by rolling a 141 the next game, followed by a 136 and 127 to finish the series knocking down 669 pins to edge Behrend's 592.

The Lions continue the Round Robin tournament tomorrow starting at 9 a.m.
