Women's Bowling Drops Three Against Medaille

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's bowling team dropped their first match of the New Year, falling 3-0 against Medaille on Tuesday afternoon.

In the opening game of the night, the Mavericks defeated the Lions 822-724 in the traditional match format.

Despite the loss, Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) led the charge for both squads by rolling a career-high 191. In addition, Holly Rae Hanson (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) also set a new career-high of 163, including five consecutive strikes.  However, Mavericks' bowlers, Ysobel Conrad and Carla Hansen, recorded scores of 178 and 173, respectively, to lead Medaille to a victory in the team format.

Medaille continued to roll when they faced-off in five Baker style format games, where they edged the Lions 742-636 pin fall.

Behrend fell in the first couple Baker format games, 138-110 and 158-119, but battled back in game three to pick up its lone win of the night with a score of 144-109. The Mavericks picked up a 143-118 and 194-145 win in the final two games of the Baker style play.

Becky Patterson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) led Lions after bowling a 147 in this game play, while Hali Hartley (Seven Fields, PA/Mars Area High School) was not far behind with a final score of 137.

The Mavericks earned a third point on the night for defeating the Lions in total pin fall, accumulating 1564 fallen pins compared to the Lions 1360 pins.

Behrend will look to get back on the winning track when they travel to Pitt-Bradford on January 23. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
