Women's Bowling Edged by Pitt-Bradford

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's bowling team battled in three tough games against Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday evening, falling 697-646, 840-543, and 773-706 in three traditional style contests.

In the first game of the night, it was a tight competition between the Lions and Panthers. Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) was instrumental in leading Behrend to a 392-390 advantage heading into the seventh frame, but that lead would soon be erased with the help of Kelsey Hammons. Hammons rolled a game-high 182, and continued to improve throughout the night. Adams rolled a score of 165 while Becky Patterson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) recorded a score of 145. Bradford slightly edged Behrend in the first one, 697-646.

Game two was much different. Once the Panthers took control in the opening frame, they did not look back. Hammons played a crucial part in Pitt-Bradford's success by bowling a final score of 237, knocking down five consecutive strikes. For the Lions, Patterson continued throughout the night by rolling a 137. Behrend dropped the second one 840-543.

Despite rolling their best game of the night, the Lions could not overcome the Panthers wrath. Haley Ward and Bryce Holm for Bradford rolled scores of 186 and 181, respectively. For the Lions, Katie Wotus (Crabtree, PA/Greensburg Salem) led the charge with a career-best score of 170. Bobbi Doubet (Cambridge Springs, PA/Cambridge Springs) also notched a career-best score in the game, rolling a 169. Unfortunately, the record breaking scores were not enough to top the Panthers, falling 773-706.

Pitt-Bradford was awarded a fourth point at the end of the match for total pin fall, defeating Behrend 2310-1895. In total, Bradford swept Behrend 4-0.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday for a home match against Daeman. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Eastland Bowling Alley.
