Wolczko Leads Lions to 7-2 Win Over Arcadia

FORT PIERCE, Fl. – Matt Wolczko (Apollo, PA/Kiski) drove in three runs with a double to lead the The Penn State Behrend baseball team to a 7-2 victory over Arcadia on Tuesday.

The sophomore went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the second win in as many days for the Lions (3-3), who scored five times in the second inning to take control of the contest.

Wolczko (Apollo, PA/Kiski) drove in the game's first two runs on a bases loaded double that gave Behrend a 2-0 lead. Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) made it 4-0 on a two-run single that plated Wolczko and Tommy Kocur (Erie, PA/McDowell).

Margraf then scored on Brandon Bergstrom's (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) single that gave the Lions a 5-0 advantage. That run was unearned.

The Lions wrapped up the scoring in the sixth inning. Wolczko singled home Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside) to make it 6-1, and Margraf followed with an RBI double to give Behrend a 7-1 lead. Finnegan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Margraf finished with three hits and two RBI on the day.

Tylor Williams (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) struck out seven, allowing one run in 5.2 innings of work to earn the win. Andrew Quiggle (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Central Tech) pitched 1.1 innings without allowing an earned run, and Connor Semple (Washington, PA/McGuffey) went two shutout innings, striking out two.

The Knights only runs came on a third inning RBI groundout and a seventh inning sacrafice fly.

Behrend will continue their Florida swing when they battle Keystone on Thursday, March 13 at noon.
