CRESSON, Pa. – Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) crushed a two-run homer on Saturday afternoon as the Penn State Behrend baseball team split a doubleheader with Mt. Aloysius, dropping the opener 5-2 and rallying in the nightcap, 8-2.
In game one, Derrick Capiak was dominant for the Mounties with 11 strikeouts.
Still, Lions sophomore Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) posted a 2-for-3 afternoon.
Chad Zurat (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) took the loos for Behrend. The senior set down four in six innings of work.
The Lions responded in a big way in game two of the twinbill.
After Jordan Weinzierl's (St. Mary's, PA/St. Mary's) leadoff walk in the third inning, Bohman left the yard to put Behrend on the board.
The Lions struck again in the fourth.
Matt Wolczko (Apollo, PA/Kiski) forced in a run with a bases loaded walk, and Tommy Kocur (Erie, PA/McDowell) did the same after being hit by a pitch.
Behrend continued their hot-streak in the very next inning. Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside) started things off with a double and Bohman then found oil again, driving in yet another run with a single. Margraf then singled, and John Hlavinka (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) drilled a solid base hit to pad the Lions lead.
Behrend will travel to take on Mt. Union on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
