ERIE, Pa. - Collegiate Baseball Magazine recently announced its 2018 NCAA Division III Players to Watch List, which includes four Penn State Behrend players.

Junior and senior pitchers Phil Myers (DuBois, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) and Jack Herzing (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic), senior first baseman David Boehme (Venetia, PA/Seton-La Salle), and junior infielder Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) were all selected to the prestigious list.

Myers had an exceptional sophomore campaign and was selected to the All-Region second team along with tabbing First-Team All-AMCC honors. The team's two-time most valuable pitcher continued to lead the Lions to a team-high six wins on 65.0 innings of work. Myers accumulated an ERA of 3.05, gave up 22 earned runs, and struck out 50 batters on the season.

The left-handed hurler, Herzing, sat down a conference-best 80 batters during his junior campaign. In 11 starts for the lefty, he picked up five victories and notched a 3.84 ERA in 58.2 innings.

Boehme was instrumental for the Lions batting a .309 average and a .488 slugging percentage. He was third for Behrend in hits (47), doubles (9), and runs batted in (26). Boehme tallied 30 RBI's while fielding at a .985 clip.

Earning ECAC All-Star North Region First Team, ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, and First-Team All-AMCC honors, Sada had a breakout sophomore season leading the team in every major category. This all-around player not only was second in the conference with 19 stolen bases, but was also second with three saves as a pitcher. He drove in 48 RBI's on 62 hits while hitting a .686 slugging percentage. Sada was voted by his teammates as the team's Most Valuable Player.

Since 2009, twenty-seven Lions have been recognized by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. Behrend will begin the season on February 24 against Franklin. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 1:00 p.m.

In the 2018 pre-season poll released by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the Behrend Lions received votes towards a Top 25 ranking. In 2017, finished with a 25-19 record.
