Herzing Named AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year

ERIE, Pa. – Senior Jack Herzing (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) has been selected as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Preseason Pitcher of the Year for the 2018 season.

During his junior season, Herzing struck out a conference-leading 80 batters. The lefty-hurler recorded five victories in his 11 starts in a Behrend uniform. Along with his 3.84 ERA in 58.2 innings, he averaged 12.27 strikeouts per nine innings to rank 14th in the country among all pitchers.

The Lions were projected to finish second in the AMCC, falling just behind La Roche in the coaches' preseason pool. The Lions will look to avenge themselves this season after coming up short to the Redhawks in the AMCC Championship Game, finishing their season with an overall record of 25-19.
