Fanelli Named Assistant Baseball Coach

ERIE, Pa. - Anthony Fanelli has been named the first-ever full-time assistant baseball coach for the Behrend Lions. He had previously served for two seasons at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. Fanelli served as the hitting coach, instructed the catchers, and assisted with recruiting.

Last season, Fanelli helped the Griffins capture the PSAC Tournament Championship and post a 34-22 overall record. The Griffins competed in the NCAA Tournament before falling in the regional championship. In his first season on the baseball staff the 2017 squad also won the PSAC tournament title while advancing to the NCAA Tournament with a 36-20 mark. Seton Hill led all of Division 2 in stolen bases.

Fanelli capped his career in 2016 with first team All-PSAC honors. In 58 games as a senior, Fanelli hit .356 with 17 doubles, 8 home runs and 43 RBI. He was also selected as a second team All-Region catcher by the NCBWA and D2CCA.  The Hempfield high school graduate started 137 games during his four year career.  He held a career average of .342 with 29 doubles, 11 home runs and 81 RBI.  He walked 64 times to just 56 strikeouts.

Fanelli earned his undergraduate degree in sports management and a masters degree in business administration in the spring of 2018.
