Baseball Falls in ECAC Semifinals

ERIE, Pa.  – The No. 2 Penn State Behrend baseball team fell 3-1 to No. 3 Grove City in the 2019 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

* Grove City did the damage in the first four innings to go ahead and stay for a two-run win and advane
* John Bini pitched to 34 out of the 35 Behrend batters and struck out seven for the win on the mound
* The Lions mustered one run in the fifth inning on a ground out double play
* Senior Mason McGuire (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) had one of the two hits, scored a run and had a stolen base
* Senior Phil Myers (DuBois, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) pitched 5.1 innings to start and fanned two batters for his first loss of the season
* Freshman Thomas Zbezinski (Gibsonia, PA/Pine Richland) threw three innings of relief and allowed one hit
* Designated hitter John Brittner (Zelienople, PA/Seneca Valley) tallied the only other hit for Behrend in the bottom of the sixth inning
* Each team left seven runners stranded  
* Behrend finishes the season with a 24-17 overall record
