Wagner, Zbezinski Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend junior pitcher Thomas Zbezinski (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) and senior infielder Josh Wagner (South Park, PA/South Park) were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week for helping the Lions capture their fifth AMCC Championship last week.

Zbezinski is earning his fifth AMCC Pitcher of the Week honor. The starter fanned a career-high 12 batters and allowed just three hits to help the Lions defeat La Roche 6-4 in the AMCC Championship, improving to 7-1 on the mound. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Wagner joined Zbezinski on the All-Tournament Team to be named the AMCC Player of the Week. He had two doubles out of his three hits and drove in three runs in three games. Wagner scored two runs and tallied a sacrifice fly in the championship game.

Behrend continues its season at the NCAA Division III Regional Championships this week held at Marietta College. The Lions will take on No. 8 Rowan in the first round on Thursday at 11 a.m.
