Jake Deitz begins his first season as an assistant baseball coach for the Penn State Behrend Lions.

Deitz was a five-year member of the Behrend baseball team. He was a three-time team captain, who appeared in over 100 games for the Lions. The majority of his starts came behind the plate and he also spent time at 2B and DH.

In 2021, Deitz was a member of the team who won the program’s sixth AMCC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Behrend defeated No. 17 NC Wesleyan and Rochester at the NCAA Regionals. The next year he helped the Lions capture the 2022 AMCC Regular Season Championship.

Deitz is a two-time AMCC All-Tournament Team recipient, two-time AMCC All-Academic member, and a three-time AMCC All-Sportsmanship Award winner, which is voted on by teammates and coaches. He was also voted by his teammates and coaches for the team’s Most Improved Performer Award in 2019.

Deitz will graduate from Behrend in 2023 with a degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics.
