Seven Straight With Win Over Pitt-Bradford, 70-55

Bradford, PA – Russ Conley shot an amazing 9-for-10 from the field to lead all point scorers with 19 in a 70-55 victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) rival Pitt-Bradford, Wednesday at the KOA Arena.

Chris Saltzman was not too far behind, dropping 17 of his own while Adam Palcic and Justin Kovac chipped in with 10 points apiece. Kovac also registered six assist to help the Lions (12-1, 7-0 AMCC) remain undefeated in conference play.

Tyler Fergus and Dan Heisey led the way for Bradford. Ferguson finished the game with 18 points and five rebounds while Heisey netted 17.

Trading buckets for most of the first half, Behrend took a 19-14 lead with 7:25 on the clock after Palcic was sent to the line to finish the three-point play. Less than two minutes later the Lions jumped out to a nine-point margin (25-16), thanks to Conley, Saltzman and Kovac each tallying buckets. The Panthers (5-9, 3-4 AMCC) would respond with a 13-5 run to end the half which was led by Ferguson's eight points, 30-29.

Bradford took a one point lead with 16:26 to go in the game, 40-39, their last of the night. The men went on to post 23 points while holding the Panthers to four over the next eight minutes, 62-42 (8:34). During this stretch Behrend drilled three triples and went 9-for-9 from the field to win their seventh consecutive AMCC game, 70-55.

When leading after the first 20, the Lions have yet to lose a game this season. This trend would remain intact after Behrend outscored Bradford 40-26 in the second half.

The Lions return to action 4 p.m. Saturday, at Franciscan.
