Behrend Sweeps Hilbert In Regular Season Play

ERIE, Pa. –Four players record double-digits as Behrend went on to down Hilbert in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play Wednesday night, 70-51 at the Junker Center.

Nick Dvorsky, Chris Saltzman and Russ Conley all tallied 12 points in the win while Justin Kovac posted ten of his own to go along with four assists and just as many steals. Conley also blocked a career-high four shots which helped hold the Hawks (6-12, 3-8 AMCC) to just 37.5 percent shooting from the field.

Dan McFarland and Chris Hoak played great despite the Behrend pressure, the duo each scored 16 points and combined to hit six of Hilbert's 11 triples on the night.

The Lions (15-2, 10-1 AMCC) connected on six long-range jumpers to take a 36-25 lead after the first twenty minutes of play. The men seemingly broke the Hawks morale comming out of the half on a 15-4 (51-29) run with 13:28 on the clock. With less than nine minutes to play, Chris Hoak connected from behind-the-arc to begin a surge. Four three-pointers later Hilbert was within ten points and back in the game.

The Lions finished the game holding the Hawks to just four points over the next six minutes to defeat Hilbert, 70-51.

Behrend will return to action Saturday, taking on AMCC's Top ranked La Roche at 8 p.m.
