Behrend Breezes Past D'Youville, 57-39

BUFFALO, NY – Patrick Coyle's game- and career-high 13 points and 13 rebounds wasn't enough to lift D'Youville past the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team, Thursday, as the men would shoot 45 percent from behind-the-arc and win 57-39.

Chris Saltzman pumped in 12 points for the Lions (17-2, 12-2 AMCC) to go along with 10 rebounds while Justin Kovac tallied four dimes, three steals and six points.

Coyle, the nation's leading shot blocker, denied three baskets in the outing while Shane Canahai netted 10 buckets for the Spartans (5-15, 5-8 AMCC).

In the first half, both the Lions and D'Youville's defenses played well, limiting the opposition to just 37.5 and 26.9 shooting percentage, respectively. Behrend took a 23-17 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Lions outscored the Spartans 34-22 in the second half. Behrend received a huge lift from their bench as it posted 24 points to D'Youville's six. Pat St. Andrews chipped in with a couple triples while Shane Skelly and Nick Dvorsky each tallied six.

The men will return to action Saturday, at Pitt-Greensburg. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
