Lions Earn ECAC Bid

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team earned a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament, announced on Monday.  Behrend will travel to Juniata on Wednesday with tip-off set for 8 p.m.

The Lions (16-11) will be making their 11th appearance in the ECAC tournament, last capturing the South Region title in 2010.

Following their victory over Pitt-Bradford in the first round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) tournament, Behrend upset defending champion La Roche on Saturday to play in the conference championship for a second consecutive season.  The Lions fell to Medaille, 65-52.

Juniata (18-9) lost in their conference championship game as well.  The Eagles were defeated by Scranton, 78-70.

After starting the season 0-5, the Lions have bounced back well.  Behrend has won seven of its last eight games including a 13-4 mark in the New Year.

The Lions will rely on their nationally ranked defense which is only giving up 56.3 ppg, good enough for third in the country. Behrend has only allowed one team to score more than 70 points all season.
