Lions Roll in Season Opener

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team defeated Wells 77-43 in non-conference action on Friday night.

The Lions (1-0) dominated the glass and forced 18 turnovers to hold the Express to just 43 points.

With less than seven minutes to play in the opening stanza, Behrend went on a 20-3 run to close out the half and steal the momentum.  Nick DeLisio (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) and Russ Conley (Transfer, PA/Reynolds) combined for 15 of the 20 points.  Conley missed a double-double in the opening 20 minutes by just one rebound.

The second half saw the same action as the first half with the Lions stifling the Wells' offense.  Behrend held the Express to just eight second-half field goals and 22.2 percent shooting.  Meanwhile, the Lions continued their offensive efficiency with hot shooting.  Behrend shot 54.7 percent from the floor, a feat they only accomplished three times last season.

DeLisio netted 21 points, including three triples.  Conley chipped in 21 as well to go with 13 rebounds.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow at 3 p.m. against John Carroll in the Behrend Tip-Off Tournament championship game.
