Three Named to All-AMCC Men's Basketball Team
ERIE, Pa. – Three Penn State Behrend men's basketball seniors were named to the 2019 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, announced on Tuesday. 
Guards Andy Niland (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Mike Fischer (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) were selected to the first team, while forward Justin Gorny (South Park, PA/South Park) was a second-team choice. 

Niland is earning his fourth consecutive All-AMCC honor. He was named to the second team as a freshman and junior, while landing on the first team as a sophomore and senior. The point guard ranks second in the conference and 10th in Division III statistics in assists per game (6.2). He is first in the AMCC with a 92.9 free-throw percentage and is second on the team with 13.6 points per game. 

Niland reached the 1,000-point plateau this season and become the program's all-time leader in assists. He needs seven more three pointers to set a new school record in triples made. Niland had 17 double-digit scoring games, including a career-high 31 against Alfred State. He also registered double-digit assists, tying a career best with 11 against Thiel. 

Fischer is receiving his first All-AMCC recognition on the first team. He ranks fourth in the AMCC in assists (104), while sitting fifth in field-goal percentage (55.7) ninth in free-throw percentage in the (75.0). Fischer has scored double-digit points in the last seven consecutive games and has 20 overall. He tallied his first double-double this season with 18 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in the win over Hilbert. 

Gorny was named to the second team after being named to the third team a year ago. Gorny leads the team in points and rebounds per game. He is scoring 14.1 points, good enough for ninth in the AMCC and is pulling down 5.9 rebounds for 14th in conference. The forward tied a career high with 28 points in the win over Pitt-Greensburg. He also scored the final six points in the AMCC Championship game to pull the Lions back from a four-point deficit for the win. Gorny tallied 20 double-digit scoring games to go along with a pair of double-doubles. He was also the second player this season to reach 1,000 career points. 

The Lions season continues with their eighth appearance at the NCAA Tournament this weekend at Hamilton. Behrend won its sixth AMCC Championship on Sunday with a 67-65 win over La Roche.
