Behrend Basketball Players Participate in "Stay in to Win" Program

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend basketball players Malike Brinson (Erie, PA/Central Tech), Andy Niland (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Dorian Connors (Girard, PA/Girard), and Derrick Clark (Erie, PA/Central Tech)  presented the "Stay in to Win" program sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to students at Mother Theresa Academy in Erie, PA.

The NABC recognizes the game of basketball allows for an effective correlation between being successful on the court and achieving success in life. The "Stay in to Win" program uses the game of basketball as a tool to communicate the importance of staying in school and succeeding by graduating. Using basketball terminology, students incorporate determination and teamwork into their strategies for achieving academic, career, and personal success.

The Behrend basketball players focused on helping the students be successful by teaching the importance of intangibles such as teamwork, team goals, and commitment. The goal of the program is to help students make good decisions that will influence their lives and lead to positive outcomes. The players preparing the students to make important choices that will impact their success.
