Lions Take Fourth at Behrend Invitational

FINDLEY, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men’s golf team finished fourth out of 12 teams with a score of 340 at their own in invitational held at the Peak N’ Peak on Thursday afternoon.

Grove City captured the team title by one stroke and a total of 332, while Westminster and Penn State Altoona tied for second place but the Titans won a tiebreaker with the fifth golfers score to claim the runners-up trophy.

Four Lions ended in Top 10 and Kevin Koerbel paced the pack with low round of 79 for sixth place. He shot a 42 on the front nine and 37 on the back for the Behrend blue team. Zack Polanski, also playing on the blue team, carded an 80 (39-41) for seventh overall.

David Phillips and Kyle Meehl were the two who contributed to the blue team score. Phillips hit a 46 and then a 39 for an 85 total to tie for 17th, while Meehl shot a 93 (45-48). Dean Rainville score ranked him 51st with a 101.

For the white team, Alec Italiano tied for seventh place with Polanski shooting an 80 (40-40). Anthony Mangano finished 10th and was one stroke away from Italiano with an 81.   

Dan L’Herbier and Mike Sabolcik carded an 88 and 89, respectively. Byron Doll was 19 over par with a score of 91. Competing as an individual, Mitch Connors tallied an 87 (43-44).

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday at La Roche. Tee time is 12 p.m.
