Lions, Sculley Win Pitt-Bradford Invitational

BRADFORD, Pa. – Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) opened the 2017 season with individual medalist honors, winning the Pitt-Bradford Invitational with a low-score of 74 on Saturday afternoon at the Pine Acres Country Club.

As a team, the Lions finished first out 16 teams with a low score of 312 (+24). Grove City and La Roche tied for second with a team total of 321. Sculley won the tiebreaker playoff on the second hole to beat Javon Trout of Pitt-Greensburg and Ben Mullins of La Roche who also carded a 74 on the day.

Behrend had two other golfers in the Top 10. Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) tied for fourth overall with a 75 and Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) was one stroke ahead with a 76 to tie for sixth place.

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Mark Peters (Mercer, PA/Mercer) each recorded an 81 to tie for 15th overall. Freshman Jack Perfett (Moon Township, PA/Moon) was the fifth golfer for the Lions, shooting an 82 for his first collegiate outing to tie for 20th place.

Behrend returns to action on Sunday, September 10 at the Allegheny Invitational.
