Golfers Claim James Bowen Invitational; Perfett Wins Individual Medalist Honors

ERIE, Pa. – Jack Perfett (Moon Township, PA/Moon) and Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) led the Penn State Behrend men's golf team at the James Bowen Invitational held at the Lawrence Park Golf Club on Monday afternoon.

The Lions had two teams in the top three out of 11 competing squads for the invitational named after the former golf coach at Behrend. The Lions A squad won with a team-low score of 307 behind individual medalist Perfett (73) and runner-up Sculley (75).

Penn State Altoona was second with 314 and the Behrend B team was third, scoring a 316.

Overall, the Lions had five golfers in the top 10. Sculley tied Mark Peters (Mercer, PA/Mercer) for second with a 75. Peters was the top golfer on the B team.

Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) tied for fifth along with Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) of the B team with a score of 77 on the day.

JT Kuchnicki (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) was the fourth golfer to finish for the A squad, tying for 16th with an 82, while Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) rounded out the winning team with an 83 (T20).

Placing 14th, Daniel Thomas (Moon Township, PA/Moon) carded a 79 for the B team. Zac McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) had his score count to help the Lions take third with an 85. Teddy Russell (Erie, PA/McDowell) was the final golfer to compete on the day, finishing with a 96 (47th).

Behrend returns to action on Sunday at the AMCC Championships held at Avalon Lakes Golf & Country Club. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
