Men's Golf Heads to Greensboro, NC for NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, NC – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team will compete at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships this week at the Grandover Resort, in Greensboro, North Carolina from May 15-18.

The Lions are making their eighth overall and seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning their seventh consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) title this fall to earn the conference's automatic bid. Freshman Jack Perfett (Moon Township, PA/Moon) was the individual champion at the AMCC Championships with a two-day total of 141 (69-72). Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) finished third overall with a 149.

Joining Perfett and Kunst will be the 2017 AMCC individual champion Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst), Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and JT Kuchnicki (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour).

Guilford College and the Greensboro Sports Commission will be hosting the 72-hole championship. The competition begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams. A total of 216 participants will compete at the 2018 championships. Behrend was one of 33 teams to be awarded automatic qualification for the championships.
