Lions Edge Buffalo St. In Overtime

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team defeated Buffalo St. 1-0 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at the Blue Devil Clarion Classic.

After 90 minutes of scorless play, Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) found the back of the net to give the Lions (3-1) their third straight victory.

The Bengals came out firing in the opening half with 10 shots.  Behrend's defense held strong though keeping Buffalo St. off the board.  Each team had a few opportunities in the first half with three corner kicks each but the game remained tied at 0-0 at the break.

With the second half underway, neither team was able to get much going.  Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) rejected the Bengals only shot on goal in the second to preserve the tie.

It was not until five minutes into overtime that the game would be decided.  Garrett Fiscus (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) played a great ball behind the defense to Belack who was able to beat the keeper to give the Lions the 1-0 victory.

Behrend will continue non-conference action on Wednesday at Grove City.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
