Lions Take Bite out of Gators, 3-0

ERIE, Pa – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team scored three first-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over Allegheny on Friday night.

Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) put the Lions on the board just 5:34 into the contest. The freshman blew by Gators goalkeeper John Lichina after taking a pass from Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) to make it 1-0.

Nick Stewart (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) made it 2-nil just four minutes later following a corner kick. Senior Garrett Fiscus (Russel, PA/Russell) tacked on the final goal, sending the ball into the lower corner of the net to give Behrend the 3-0 advantage.

Goalkeeper Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) earned his third shutout of the year.

Kyle Coonelly (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) and Seth Connor (Brookville,PA/Brookville) added assists for the Lions, who improved to 4-1 at home in 2013.

In winning Friday night's match, Behrend took down an Allegheny team that had previously been unbeaten on the road in 2013.

The Lions will play at St. Vincent on September 25. Their next home match will be Saturday, September 28, when they open AMCC play against Franciscan.
