Lions Clinch AMCC Regular-Season Title

CRESSON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team clinched the AMCC regular-season title Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Mt. Aloysius. The Lions (15-3, 9-0 AMCC) went undefeated in conference play this season and will have the opportunity to host all of their AMCC Tournament games. Behrend is red-hot and have now won a remarkable ten straight games dating back to September 24th.

After a scoreless 62 minutes of play, Christian Harrington (Warren, PA/Warren Area) broke the drought with his fifth goal of the year. Jimmy Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) recorded the assist on the goal, increasing his recent record-breaking career assists mark.

Clinging to a 1-0 lead, Behrend's defense led by Mike Worthy, (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) Evan Augustine (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) and Kevin Vock (Bridgeville, PA / South Fayette) shut down all scoring chances for Mt. Aloysius (7-9-1, 3-5-1 AMCC) limiting the Mounties to only two shots on goal.

At the 88 minute mark, Anthony Crivelli sealed the victory with his eleventh goal of the year. Recording his eighth shutout of the year, Jarrod Wassell (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) was once again a brick wall in the net. Wassell made two saves and is having a stellar season.

In the regular-season finale, the Lions will host Alfred State Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
