Men's Soccer Ties Buffalo State; Captures Blue Devil Classic

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Buffalo State to capture the Blue Devil Classic championship on Saturday night.

The Lions scored the most goals this weekend (4) which gave them the tiebreaker to claim the championship. Christian Harrignton (Warren, PA/Warren Area) was named tournament MVP.

Forward Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and goalie Colton Smith (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Bengals led Behrend in shots in the first half 5-1. Evan Augustine (South Park, PA/South Park) had the only chance for the Lions when his shot was saved by goalie William Banahene in the 30th minute. The best chance of the first half came from Buffalo State's Luke Pavone when he hit the post in the 33rd minute.

After a back and forth second half and overtime neither team could find the back of the net.

Crivelli had the Lion's best chance of the second half, but he could not capitalize on a rocket of a shot in the 88th minute when Banahene made the save to keep Buffalo State alive. Smith answered when he made a spectacular save with just under one minute to play in the second overtime, tipping the shot over the bar.

Behrend is back in action this Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to Westminster.
