Behrend Athletics Mourns Loss of Former Men's Soccer Player

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Penn State Behrend athletics mourns the loss of former men's soccer standout goalie Dustin Walker '10, who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Sunday morning. He was 30.

A three-year starter and three-time All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) first-team choice, Walker holds the program record for career shutouts (30) and games played in goal (69). He is also ranked second with a career 0.928 goals-against average (GAA) and is sixth with 272 career saves.

Walker helped the Lions capture the AMCC Championship in 2007 and set the program's single-season record for goals allowed with seven. His senior year, he ranked second in the AMCC with a 0.60 GAA and .860 save percentage. In 22 games, Walker posted 12 shut-outs and made 80 saves. He capped his career with being named the Behrend Athlete of the Year.

"Dustin was a caring, committed teammate and alumnus," said head coach Dan Perritano. "He was not only a talented player but was an inspirational force for our soccer program."

Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Vaia Funeral Home, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, PA. Funeral services for Dustin will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Raptosh, of Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, officiating. Interment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, will follow.
