Behrend Men's Soccer Ranked 22nd in USC National Rankings

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team earned their first-ever national ranking during the start of the regular season after going 4-0 in the first two weekends. The Lions rank 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Division III Top 25 Poll, released on Tuesday.

Behrend also received its highest regional ranking, sitting third out of 10 teams in the USC Great Lakes Region thanks to an unblemished record. The Lions captured the annual Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament with a 6-3 win over Alfred and a 3-2 victory against Baldwin Wallace for the HLM Title.

This past weekend, Behrend defeated Mt. St. Vincent 4-0 and Potsdam 2-1 on the road. Junior forward Richard Blanchard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) and freshman forward Jordan Floyd (Plum, PA/Plum) are ranked in the NCAA Division III statistics with four games under their belt. Blanchard is tied for sixth in game-winning goals (2), while Floyd is tied for seventh in total goals (5). As a team, the Lions rank tied for 15th in the nation in total goals with 15.

Behrend returns to action on Friday night against regional-rival Allegheny under the lights. Game begins at 7 p.m.
