Men's Soccer Poised for AMCC Tournament; Lions Face Mounties in Semifinals

ERIE, Pa. – The No. 20 Penn State Behrend men's soccer team will battle Mt. Aloysius in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) semifinals at 2 p.m. at the Behrend Field.

No. 2 Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions have won four of the last six AMCC Championships
* Behrend is looking to claim its 10th overall AMCC title and second straight
* The Lions have advanced to the AMCC Tournament every year while playing in 20 of the 22 finals since the inception of the conference in 1997
* Behrend received a bye in the first round of the AMCC playoffs after earning the No. 2 spot behind Medaille
* The Lions lead the AMCC in most goals scored (64), assists (45) and least goals against (12)
* Behrend is riding a six-match winning streak heading into Wednesday's semifinal with the Mounties
* Richard Blanchard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) is first in assists with 12 and is tied for fourth in goals with 10
* Matt Warnaka (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) and the team also rank first in goals-against average (0.74)
* Last season, the Lions defeated Franciscan 5-2 in the AMCC semifinals and then posted a 3-1 victory in the championship game over Medaille

* The Mounties scored two goals in each half to defeat Pitt-Bradford 4-1 in the first round of the AMCC Tournament
* Josh Devlin scored his team-leading 18th goal and the game winner in the 14th minute against the Panthers
* Mount Aloysius looks to advance to their first AMCC Championship appearance since 2015
* The Mounties enter the semifinals with a 15-5 overall record

Series History:

* Behrend posted a 1-0 victory over the Mounties on Sept. 21 at home
* Nick Schwarzel (South Park, PA/South Park) buried a penalty kick in the 89th minute to lift the Lions past Mt. Aloysius this season
* The Lions now hold a 16-1-1 all-time record over the Mounties
