ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend men's soccer senior Nick Schwarzel (South Park, PA/South Park) has been named to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-American Division III Team, announced on Tuesday.

Schwarzel is among 33 Division III student-athletes who earned the honor and among 11 players selected to the Academic All-American first team. The senior defender advanced to the All-America ballot after being named to the CoSIDA All-District 4 Team earlier this season. Schwrzel is majoring in interdisciplinary business with engineering studies and supply chain management. He has a 3.94 GPA over his first three years at Behrend. Schwarzel is a three-time Academic All-AMCC honoree and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma honor society.

He is also three-time All-AMCC selection, earning first-team honors in 2017 and landing on the second team two years in a row. Schwarzel started every game, scoring eight goals and dishing out one assist on the season. The senior captain netted three game winning goals on the season, all of which came against AMCC opponents. Schwarzel also led the team and the AMCC with a 5-for-7 showing on penalty kicks. His contributions on both sides of the ball guided Penn State Behrend to a 19-2 record.
