Lions Win 800 Free Relay on Day One of AMCC Championships

ERIE, Pa.  – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team sits in second place out of five teams after day one of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships at the Junker Center on Wednesday.

Alfred tallied 69 points to place first and the Lions are a close second with 59 points. Cabrini is third with 34, while Pitt-Bradford is fourth (26) and Penn State Altoona is fifth (20).

Freshman diver Matthew Kuchcinski (North East, PA/North East) placed second out of four on the three-meter boards. He tallied a 347.65 in the prelims before recording his season best total with 365.60 for 11 dives on the three-meter board.

Behrend won the only swimming event of the day. In the 800 free relay, Mark Patterson (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Jacob Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep), Cole Dombrosky (Mount Pleasant, PA/Mount Pleasant) and Ryan Siggins (Erie, PA/Iroquois) made up the foursome that touched first with a time of 7:02.19.

The Lions return to action tomorrow for day two of the championships with prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
