Men's Swimming and Diving All-Conference Announced

ERIE, Pa. – Junior Mark Patterson (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimmer of the Year and was one of 13 Penn State Behrend student-athletes to be named to the All-Conference Team, announced on Thursday.

Patterson was a seven-time All-Conference selection, being named to the first team for five events and then earning second team for a pair of runner up relays at the championships. The junior repeats as AMCC Swimmer of the Year, marking the ninth time in program history Behrend has won this award. Patterson was the only swimmer at the AMCC meet to hit an NCAA "B" cut time in the 200 backstroke (1:50.31). Patterson was also the individual champion in the 500 free and 200 freestyle, while swimming on the winning 400 medley and 800 freestyle relays. Overall on the weekend, he set 10 individual records and helped set the pool record in the 400 medley relay.

Noah Babik (Penn Township, PA/Penn Trafford) and Alex Croll (Honolulu, HI/Roosevelt) were four-time All-AMCC honorees. Babik was a first-team choice for winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke individually and then joining Croll in the winning 400 medley relay. Babik and Croll were second team All-Conference in the 200 medley relay. Croll added two second-team honors for the 200 and 400 freestyle relays placing second.

Steven Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell), Ryan Siggins (Erie, PA/Iroquois) and Quinn Fischer (Fairview, PA/Cathedral Prep) earned three All-AMCC accolades apiece for the Lions. Owens completed the winning 400 medley relay for first-team honors and then was runner up in the 100 and 200 butterfly to be named to the All-AMCC second team. Siggins swam on the gold-medal 800 freestyle relay to get on the first team. He also joined Fischer in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays to earn second-team All-Conference. Fischer's third honor came for finishing second in the 200 medley relay at championships.

Jake Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral) and Cole Dombrosky (Mount Pleasant, PA/Mount Pleasant) were members of the winning 800 freestyle relay to be named first team All-AMCC and then Schmidt was also a second-team choice for finishing runner up in the 500 freestyle.

Five individuals were chosen All-AMCC for one event. Brady Mattson (Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military) repeated as the 1650 freestyle champion and subsequently named first-team All-Conference.

Justin Spence (Houston, TX/Cy-Fair), Liam Watterson (Brentwood, PA/Baldwin), Ryan Elsey (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) and Matthew Kuchcinski (North East, PA/North East) were named to the All-Conference second team. Spence finished second in the 200 freestyle relay, Watterson in the 200 backstroke, Elsey in the 200 breaststroke and Kuchcinski on the three-meter diving board.
