ERIE, Pa. – Mert Ozcan (Mersin, Turkey/Tarsus American) posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles, but it was the lone win for the Penn State Behrend men's tennis team in a 8-1 loss to Mt. Union in non-conference action on Thursday.
The Purple Raiders (2-1) won the first two doubles matches, 8-6, before posting an 8-2 win at the third spot to take a 3-0 lead.
The first five singles matches belonged to Mt. Union in two-set victories except at the No. 1 spot. Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NY/Ramapo) was able to battle Nate Fockler to three sets, winning the first 6-3 and dropping the next two 6-1, 7-6.
The Lions completed their fall schedule and will return to action on Feb. 11 at Baldwin-Wallace. Match time is 1 p.m.
