HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won twice on their final day over spring break in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Lions defeated Regis 8-1 and Misericordia 9-0 in non-conference action on Thursday.
Behrend had four players win two doubles and two singles games on the day, starting with the No. 1 singles player Taimi Ando (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo).
Against Regis, he teamed with Chris Galvin (Erie, PA/McDowell) for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles. Ando then picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win in singles.
Lerdlarp Jaturapol (Bangkok, Thailand/Palmerslon) started at No. 2 doubles with Andrew Trinh (Laguna Beach, CA/Tustin). They posted an 8-5 victory. Jaturapol, playing at No. 2 singles, earned a three-set win (6-2, 4-6, 7-6).
Sujyot Mony (Bnagalore, India/Dubai International Academy) and Carson Emili (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) posted an 8-2 decision together at No. 3 doubles. Emili was the fourth singles player and blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Mony played in the fifth spot, earning a 6-1, 6-2 win.
John Paul Allegretto (Johnsonburg, PA/Johnsonburg) picked up the six singles win, coming from behind for a 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 victory.
In the win over Misericordia, Ando, Mony, Jaturapol and Emili won both singles and doubles again.
The Lions only gave up 15 singles points with Ando winning 6-0, 6-0 in the top spot.
Behrend returns to action on Friday, March 15 at Mt. Aloysius. Match begins at 5 p.m.
