Men's Tennis Downs D'Youville in AMCC Action

BUFFALO, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match of the season with a 7-2 decision over D'Youville Friday night.

The Lions (4-3, 2-0 AMCC) took a 2-1 lead after the three doubles matches. Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) and Jeremy Burnheimer (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) tallied an 8-5 score at No. 2 doubles, while Brett Palmer (North East, PA/North East) and Michael Funera (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) secured the other win at No. 3 doubles (8-1).  

All four doubles winners were also singles winners on the night. Palmer was a 6-3, 7-6 winner over John Nazzarett at No. 3 singles, before McFarland shut out his opponent at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-0.

Burnheimer, competing at No. 5 singles, posted a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Bryce Humphrey and Funera was a 6-0, 6-1 winner against Suleiman Abdulkadir at No. 6 singles.

Yanigue Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA) tallied the win at No. 1 singles for Behrend. He used a 6-1, 6-3 score to help the Lions defeat the Spartans.

Behrend returns to action today against Waynesburg. Match begins at 4 p.m.
